UW Honors College hosting Middle East Film Festival: 10 a.m.-10:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, in the University of Wyoming Agriculture Building auditorium. The free event open to the public will feature screenings of six award-winning movies from the Middle East, followed by a question-and-answer with the directors and film critics. Los Angeles-based Lebanese writer and director Oualid Mouaness is the special guest of the festival, and his film "1982" (2019) will be screened on Sunday with Mouaness in attendance. He also will offer a masterclass for UW students at 11 a.m. Monday at Coe Library Media Screening Room 123.

UW Music presents the Ari Hoenig Trio: 7 p.m., in the University of Wyoming Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts recital hall. The concert is free and open to the public. The Ari Hoenig Trio features Gadi Lehavi, piano, Ari Hoenig, drums, and Ben Tiberio, bass. Hoenig is a jazz drummer, composer, and educator known for his unusual and intense approach to drumming, emphasizing complex rhythms in direct harmony with other group members. Tel Aviv-born, New York-based pianist, Lehavi is an artist “flowing and burning, channeling Keith Jarrett and Chick Corea” (The New York Times). Bassist and composer, Tiberio is a crucial voice in the upper echelons of New York City’s vibrant jazz scene, performing alongside an long list of notable jazz artists.

Front Range Chamber Players present “Theremin: Hollywood to Wyoming”: 7:30 p.m., in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts recital hall. The concert is free and open to the public. The program will feature “String Quartet, op. 74 “Harp” in E flat Major” by Ludwig Beethoven; “Sonata for Oboe and Piano” by Camille Saint-Saens; and “Fantasia for Theremin, Oboe, Piano and String Quartet,” by Bohslav Martinu. Front Range Chamber Players are Nicholas Tisherman, oboe; Theresa Bogard, piano; Erik Peterson, violin; Philip Stevens, viola; and Joseph Howe, cello. Guest artist Lara Wickes, principal oboe for the Pasadena, Santa Barbara, New West Symphonies, is featured on the theremin — the first electronic instrument, named for its inventor, Leon Theremin, who patented the device in 1928.

STAC offers social support and contact, as well as education on cancer prevention, side-effect management and habits to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
