The Albany County Farm Bureau Federation is the county level of the Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation, which is the state’s largest organization of farmers and ranchers, with over 2,500 farmer/rancher member families. The Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation, which is financed by membership dues, is a grassroots agriculture organization that begins with individual ranchers/farmers, recognizing issues of concern to agriculture and discussing them with fellow members. The Eppson Center is a nonprofit senior activity center whose purpose is to provide those 60+ years of age in our community support for independent living through programs that enhance their quality of life. The Laramie Audubon Society promotes the conservation and appreciation of birds and other wildlife through education, outreach and habitat stewardship. Laramie BikeNet envisions a community known for access to cycling for recreation, health and transportation. As a hub for cyclists, BikeNet shares information about local resources and events, educates about all types and aspects of cycling, supports programs and efforts that encourage participation in cycling, advocates for policies and infrastructure that are bike-friendly, and partners with organizations and individuals who further our vision. MBNA is a nonprofit supported by its members, other community contributors and grants. We operate under a Challenge Cost Share Agreement with the U.S. Forest Service and are responsible for grooming the Nordic ski trails at the Happy Jack Recreation Area. Age-Friendly Laramie is a grassroots citizen organization that strives to improve capacity to age in place and promotes high livability for residents of all ages and abilities. We do this by addressing many of the aging-related concerns of residents, including improving transportation alternatives; cultivating supportive housing options for persons of all income levels; fostering respectful social interactions between generations; and supporting physical environments that encourage the inclusion of all residents in day-to-day community living. We support the beef industry of Albany County. ACCW holds an Ag Expo every spring for mainly third-grade students. They visit various stations to learn about mosquito control; livestock branding; beef byproducts; how ruminants turn grass into food for humans; raising goats, poultry and pigs; and how sheep dogs herd and protect their flocks. The mission of the Albany County Conservancy is to preserve, protect and promote wildlife, habitat and history in Albany County, Wyoming. The LGC is a local volunteer organization formed to benefit its members and the greater community. We share resources and inspiration on gardening in this challenging growing environment. Members maintain a number of public gardens, including those at the Laramie Plains Museum, the south side of the courthouse, Danny’s Garden downtown and some of the beds at the AC Public Library. Our main purpose is to support children and teens in need at our Mooseheart School & City in Illinois, and to support our senior members in a retirement home (Moosehaven) in Florida. Locally, we donate many hours of community service.
