As the temperatures start to rise this spring, the list of home projects begins to grow. A good time and place to find inspiration and expert advice will be the 11th annual Laramie Home & Garden Show.
Hits106, in collaboration with Toyota of Laramie, is hosting the free event from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 20, in the Laramie Ice & Event Center, located at 3510 E. Garfield St.
“A lot of people are always looking for things for their home,” said Shawn Faxon, owner of Wolf Creek Radio Broadcasting, LLC, Hits106 and KLMI 106.1 FM. “They need someone to help with a project or replace windows or whatever that might be. This is a great place to talk to different contractors and companies that offer those services. (People) get to have that face-to-face conversations and schedule appointments in a much more personal way than going to someone's website or making a phone call.”
In addition to providing radio entertainment, another mission for Hits106 is to grow the business of its advertisers and support the community.
“We believe it is important to support the organizations in our community that support the people in our community,” Hits106 website states. “Each year we host numerous local events to raise money for local nonprofits in addition to donating our marketing services to other fundraising events in the community.”
About 50-60 exhibitors will be in attendance, each focusing on different home improvement and renovation-related products. From windows, doors and roofing to solar panels, landscaping and banks that offer financial help, there will be something for every project.
Experts will be available for one-on-one discussions to share their insights and most businesses are locally owned and operated.
“We have been hosting this type of event for 11 years,” Faxon said. “When we first started, we were doing it in February at the fairgrounds. But we outgrew that space and moved to April in the Ice & Event Center because they have the ice off and we can host non-ice events.”
