This Tuesday, the Laramie City Council will consider changes to the green waste program and neighborhood convenience locations.
The continued illegal dumping and volume issues at green waste sites throughout the city have made it difficult to manage the program in its current form. Some of the options that have been discussed by the council include: a private curbside green waste pick up service, a city curbside green waste pickup service or asking everyone to drop their green waste directly at the landfill. Some of these options include a fee and all of these options include eliminating the neighborhood green waste drop sites.
The green waste/compost program has grown impressively each year in terms of volume and participation and has grown to be a standard service in Laramie and one that residents depend on. I’m writing this letter to ask for feedback from the community before Tuesday night’s meeting.
What type of program does the community want to see for its green waste? Of the options discussed by council, do residents have a preference? It seems inevitable that this program will change and I want encourage residents to be part of the discussion.
Please reach out via email, phone or attendance at Tuesday night’s meeting to share any thoughts with the council. The entire city council can be reached at email@example.com and individual council member contact information is available on the city website along with more information regarding the green waste program.
Thank you in advance for your thoughts and I look forward to hearing from you.
