Pole Mountain Shuffle set for today
A free Nordic ski race is scheduled for today starting at the Tie City Trailhead. The Pole Mountain Shuffle includes 5k and 10k classic and skate races starting at 10 a.m., with courses to be determined. Registration is free, but donations will be accepted to benefit the Medicine Bow Nordic Association. Register on race day or at www.medicinebownordic.org.
Campus Ministry hosting ski trip
All college and college-aged students are invited to join Trinity Lutheran Church for a trip to the Snowy Range Ski and Recreation Area from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Jan. 27. The event is free and lunch is included. Carpooling is available from the church, 107 S. Seventh St. Participants are responsible for their own gear or renting from the ski area, according to a news release. Fishing tournament set for Curt Gowdy
An ice fishing tournament is set for 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 3 at Curt Gowdy State Park. Anglers can fish at Granite, Crystal or North Crow reservoirs as they vie for $2,500 in cash prizes, including a $1,500 grand prize. Registration is $40 for adults or $20 for youth through Jan. 26. Izaak Walton League to meet
The Travelle Chapter of the Izaak Walton League is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at Laramie Fire Station No. 2, 1558 N. 23rd St. Christina Barrineau, a habitat specialist for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, is set to give an update on recent and upcoming habitat projects in the region.
