Free hearing screenings offered

Laramie Hearing Aid Clinic is hosting a free hearing screening clinic from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. today at the clinic, 253 N. Third St. Call 742-4327 for an appointment or more information.

Public meeting slated to discuss veterans skilled nursing

The director of the Wyoming Veterans Commission and a member from the Wyoming Department of Health plan to host a public meeting to discuss veterans skilled nursing at 9 a.m. today at the Eppson Center for Seniors, 1560 N. Third St.

The meeting is to provide information and accept public comment regarding establishing a veterans skilled nursing facility in Wyoming, the availability of nursing home beds in the state, and the demand by veterans for a skilled nursing facility in Wyoming, according to a news release.

American Red Cross class planned for Friday

An American Red Cross class is scheduled from 6-9 p.m. Friday at Laramie’s Basecamp, 222 S. Second St. Pre-registration is required by emailing The class is $70 for the adult/child/infant CPR, first aid, AED course, according to a news release.

Health and safety fair set for Saturday

Laramie’s annual Health and Safety Fair is slated for 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the Albany County Fairgrounds. Blood draws are from 8-11 a.m. The event is free to the public.

Attendees can meet local health care providers, enjoy interactive activities for all ages, enter to win door prizes and learn more about the community, according to a news release.

Low-cost health screenings will be offered by Wyoming Health Fairs.

WHF recommends 12-hour fasting prior to blood draws, unless the person is diabetic. Participants should drink plenty of water and take medications as usual.

Walk With a Doc event set for Sunday

The next Walk With a Doc event is from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Sunday at Washington Park by the bandshell. This event will feature Amy Weaver, CCC-A, clinical audiologist, speaking about “Healthy Hearing.”

Ivinson Memorial Hospital will provide coffee and healthy snacks. This event is free to the public.

Community workout set for June 2

A community workout is set for 8 a.m. June 2 at CrossFit Laramie, 1404 Skyline Road. The event is free to all experience levels.

Alzheimer’s Support Group meets 2nd Wednesday each month

The Laramie Area Alzheimer’s Support Group is set to meet at 1:30 p.m. June 13 at the Eppson Center for Seniors in the Activities Office, 1560 N. Third St. The meeting is for people touched by Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders and convenes on the second Wednesday of each month. It is a place to come together to learn about helpful resources and to help others who are going where we have been. Come and learn how this disease impacts lives and pick up some good caregiving ideas from those who have been there. Call Patty Butler at 760-4527 for more information.
